Wheel Adapter Idea

Featured Replies

I was looking at past threads about the feasability of using wheel adapters to convert the old Subarus from 4x140mm to 4x100mm. most people adree that the 4wd hubs would make this nearly impossible. I was wondering if anyone thought to try machining adapters to convert to 4x130mm. Its the pattern for vintage vw bugs. this may allow clearance around the front hubs as well as be able to use the 15 in. steel wheels for baja bugs that come in sizes form 5.5 inch to 10 inch.

I just got my spare hubs back from the machine shop changing them to 4x100. Now I just have to find a set of wheels to try it out. Cost $170 for machining $36 for new wheel studs 1.5x12 I believe. Should open up wheel options a lot

I don't see why it wouldn't work. I've had 50mm and 25mm adapters on my Volkswagen (5x100 to 5x130) and have never had an issue.

But I would advise you to go with 4x100 over 4x130. Many, many cars use the 4x100 bolt pattern, and almost every good/cool comes in that pattern.
