September 14, 201015 yr Guys, 86 gl ea82 with a brand new weber conversion. All installed running pretty darn good. Still fine tunning it. I have a very small off idle stumble. The secondaries seem really loud, and not really impressive. Almost a bogging down sound. Mileage seems to be between 20 and 25, I dont have many tanks through it yet. No vac leaks to speak off. And the real problem that I have.... it stinks bad. So did the old carb though. It seems as though the smell is worst in the cab, followed by the engine compartment. There seems to be a pretty decent exhaust leak right near the cat. The tail pipe area doesnt seem to really smell at all. It is a rich smell. And its making me sick. I havent checked to float yet. What could this combination mean? It runs SOOOOO much better now, it just smells. Thanks Mike
September 15, 201015 yr Author Thanks GD. Will do.. Has anyone had any luck with the muffler / exhaust pipe "Tape" repair. The kind that use a hardening compound? Or do I need to replace the y pipe? Mike
September 15, 201015 yr about the stink I have no experience with...my daughters car also had a stumble because the relationship between "rpm and timing", both being too advanced ..the present setting that works in my case are both "idle speed" and the "rpm used for timing" at 8deg, be limited to 750- 800rpm...another way of looking at it .. for example.. if the timing is set at 10deg @ 800rpm and the idle speed then raised to 1000rpm..this would cause a slight stumble apon take-off in my daughters case..(raising the idle speed increases the timing)
