Hello all. I have an 87 xt turbo (vortex) and was wondering what is required to mate an EJ22 engine to the 5 speed 2wd manual gearbox.

Any help will be much appreciated. :-\

Adapter and flywheel from SJR and pick up a XT6 clutch

 

 

Or just search ej swaps are quite common and lots of write ups on it

The clutch is going to be the major issue as the T/O assembly and spline count of the 2WD 5 speed's is totally different than the 4WD 5 speed's.

maybe it would be easier to just get an EJ22 FWD trans to drop in with it? they're a dime a dozen around here, what's the supply like over there?

 

not sure what that would do to your gearing, shouldn't be problematically (wow what a word) different but an EJ might be geared better for the power anyway?
