Idle Up Sequence?

Featured Replies

our cars, as well as most, use an idle up sequence to warm themselves

the cars starts when cold, idles at 1500 or so, then drops down to a standard idle

how long does this take in your car?

how long is it supposed to in a 91 ej22 5spd?

the reason i ask is i installed a new IAC and i want to insure the car is healthy now :)

Anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes depending on outside temperature. Is your idle speed around 700 rpm when the engine is fully warm?

IAC valve will also make the car idle go up and down, affect gas mileage, and may idle a little rough.

the problem i was having was- it would idle at 1k, all the time, no matter what, other then that it ran fantastic

after new part install it idled at 1500 for about 30 secs, and creeped down to 750

Not sure what style IAC you have but I did half a can of sea foam on mine which never worked and had any change.. so I picked up a can of carb cleaner and used the whole can on the IAC making sure the inside, back shutter area and the inside hose were all clean and that fixed my idle issue but mine was only when the car was warm and it was not really an idle issue.
