We finally got some warmer weather and I was doing some "pre-spring" shed cleaning.

Well, I came across this bit of NOS.

My parts manuals are still on loan so could somebody please identify this grill.

I'd like to use it on my '82 Hatchback?

that is definatley 80-81 with the single square headlight i have the same exact one in front of me that subawoohoo just bought

Good guess huh? My dad had an '81 wagon.That big oval six star gives it away to me,as well as the rounded ends.

Gabe says "square" head lamp on the 81

Moosens says "round" in 81.

could it be a DL GL type diff?

The edges are curved like for round head lamps.

I hate to (well won't) butcher a NOS piece.

I believe that the square headlamp grille had a rounded edge to them also. But I have to agree with Paul that its an 81. Also appears to be a square headlight grille too

It's an '80 or '81 (same thing).

My '80 EA81 Hatch (square headlights) has that very same grill. My '81 DL Hardtop (round lights) has the same shape, but a smaller badge.

The later model EA71/EA81 cars that had individual round or square lights had different grills and corner lights than these early ones and different from each other. (naturally, the dual-rect. light models had their own grills)
