December 7, 201015 yr the rear is not camber'ed so that's not an issue. I don't have any pipe that long enough or can fit over my 1/2" breaker bar... plus my 1/2" sockets are all deep sockets and I think it would be very tight or not fit with the breaker bar on. I do have a 3/8" socket but It's a huskey so I don't know how much force it can take For the fronts I used my impact on it. I had both bolts out in about a min which include tapping them out. I do the bar/pipe thing as well and if you can round up a 2 foot piece of 1.5 inch PVC pipe, that works as well. If it's super stuck it may not do it, bit I've loosened some seriously stuck stuff with the PVC cheater.
December 7, 201015 yr anyone think a u joint will work? Put a 17cm box end wrench on that side and use the cheater bar set up on the other to back out the bolt. the wrench will bottom out and hold so you can spin he bolt out. Just did this myself 6 times this weekend.
December 7, 201015 yr Oh totally, Put an 17mm wrench on the nut sidd, and loosen the bolt with the breaker bar. I wasn't sure what tool you were using.
December 8, 201015 yr Author Thats one thing I dont have is box wrenches.. I got by using channel locks.. What sizes shoud I pick up?
December 8, 201015 yr Author 10,12,14,17,19 mm. Ah good thanks, car already feels better interesting stock struts are KYB.. having said that I took the old struts out and just as I expected the strut collapsed
December 8, 201015 yr Sears sells a nice big set of Craftsman box end wrenches for like $65. I think it was 11 or 12 double ended box wrenches. From 6 or 7mm up to 30mm. I know they had another huge set too that had like 30 wrenches in both standard and metric sizes. IIRC that one was around $180 though.
December 8, 201015 yr Author I will have to check out sears and here are the few pictures i took tonight.. those upper spring seats are looking very rusty.. I hope they make replacements..
December 9, 201015 yr Ahhhh, the sweet photos of success! Good job. Nice thing here in the PNW is no salt/very little rust despite the wetness of the west side. thankfully, mine's and east side/desert car. Second the sears wrench set, fwiw.
December 9, 201015 yr Check out Grip-tite wrenches and sockets, Sears carries them as well. I so want to buy a set of them!
December 10, 201015 yr Author I don't understand why they throw down so much salt.. why not use more of a sand mix.. that reminds me I need to put back in my fender liners before I get salt where I really don't want it. Also winter tires were mounted yesterday
