PCV System in '92 Brat

Featured Replies

In the Pcv system in my brat the side that conects to the Pcv valve has it own filter in the oval air filter. Does anyone know why it has its own filter and does not use the main filter like the rest of the tubes from the emisions controll system?

Thanks in Advance :)

Almost certainly a matter of fitment. If they snaked it up onto a nipple within the filtered area you would have another difficult hose to reach in an already congested area. By locating it on the side of the filter cover it makes things allot easier to get to. The small filter over the hose entry keeps particals out of the PCV hoses.

To add to Scotts excellent reply

the remote filter is also

a nice safegaurd.

These hoses have been known to spew oil

in cases of bad PCV valves

When I fit my Weber I added

a filter for this purpose.

Yeh that is what I am thinking of doing but i also have 3 other lines running into the stock air filter.

I dont really know what these are for and in a previous post someone told me these may only function in the vacuum of the stock filter. One line is as wide as the ones coming from the crankcase ventalation line and the other 2 are the smaller kind, if this is any help.

Could I run all 5 lines into a seperate filter without any troubles?

Cheers :)

That is sort of what I did on my Impreza RS turbo. I used an aluminum box with 4 nipples and connected the various hoses to that and then ran one hose to the intake track after the filter. You could T all of them together and run one feeder.

OK sweet time to buy a 3" k&n pod filter, another filter, various hoses and some conectors, to get my Brumby to breathe properly.

Hopefully this makes her go a bit harder.

Thanks Again :)
