Electrical problems are my kryptonite

Featured Replies

Hi, looking for help. I have an 84 gl hatchback, and I was wondering if anyone has a wiring diagram for the horn/hazards/clock circuit? It keeps blowing the fuse and even without the fuse the left turn indicator and the voltage indicator are all over the place. I'm pretty sure I have a short but I can't find it. Is it possible for the turn signal clicker to short out inside of itself? Thanks.

Someone else just had this problem and it was due to the clock. You could replace the fuse with some wires tied to a brake light. That will limit the current to a safe level and then disconnect suspected areas until the light goes out, which means that connection has the problem on it.

If you continue to have problems, I have a factory manual for an '84 model and can probably scan the wiring diagram for that part.

Sorry not to get the drawing up; I lent my FSM to someone and need to get it back before I can scan the schematic.

Actually it would be awesome if you could do that. Thanks a million.

I would suspect a short to ground. Especially if lights remain on. At least for the lights, they are hot at the bulb and ground at the switch. And the horn/clock/hazard circuit is hot all the time, independent of the key.

Good luck!

Finally got my FSM back. Wiring diagram is too large to scan; if you drop me a snail-mailing address by PM, I can send you a copy.

There's lots of good stuff there that should be submitted to the USRM. Excellent write up on rear disk conversion.

It's here . If you goto the next page, there is a link for FSM's from 1984 to 2008 or so. For almost every Subaru.
