February 3, 201115 yr Are there any specific bolts that go into the block or heads (i.e. A/C PS belt tensioner, intake manifold, etc.)which would benefit from the addition of sealer to the threads?
February 3, 201115 yr I always put a little red loctite (971?) on the flywheel/ flexplate bolts. The ac bracket bolts and long power steering bracket bolts got red from the factory. Other than that I would put anti seize on the rest( if you live in a rusty climate.
February 3, 201115 yr Actually I go more the other way. Anti-seize on most bolts going into the aluminum block. Including AC compressor, PS pump, tensioners. About the only loctite I use is on crank bolt - really behind the harmonic balancer more and not the threads of the bolt sometimes get red. And sometimes the flywheel bolts get blue. I never put anything on flex plate bolts. They didn't get any from the factory and "suddenly get tight" when tightening them due to head design, etc. And I'd be afraid the loctite might dry by the time I get all 4 started then come back and snug them up. I lost this post earlier due to the Db errors. Glad I copied it. I seem to really loose the long ones!
February 4, 201115 yr I didn't mean the 4 flexplate to torque converter( i never put anything on these..they self tighten) I meant the flex plate to crank.
February 4, 201115 yr I use anti seize on everything too... i was just listing the ones that I've seen with loctite from the factory.
