seatbelt bell

Featured Replies

Is there any way to disable the warning bell for the seatbelt sign? I drive a 2005 outback and a friend drives a legacy I think it is probably 2006 or more recent. I have a feeling it woiuld be done by going through the stereo somehow.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks.

I don't know for sure, but I think the ding-ding sound is made by a module. On other cars, I have disconnected the module that sounds off a "buzz" sound when the key is left in the ignition, and a door is opened. So listen to where the ding-ding sound is coming from. Put your fingers on the module that you think the sound is coming from. The module will vibrate during ding-ding, so that your finger tips can detect the vibration. It may be as simple as unplugging the offending module.

On my 98, the seat belt receptacle has a wire coming out of it. I just unplugged it and all is good. Really nice as now my chime doesn't drive me nuckin futs anymore when I'm not belted in. I know on newer Fords, you buckle, unbuckle the belt so many times in so little time a certain way or something and the seat belt chime is disabled on them (not done personally but a lot of friends and ex-coworkers had done (F-series parking lot buss drivers)
