1.how fast can I go in 4wd?

As fast as you want. not recommended for street use though. your 4wd wasn't designed for pavement.. it will bind and break stuff

2.do the front wheels lock in 4wd? (havent played with it too much)

No, front diff is open.. rear diff is also open unless you weld it, or have an LSD.. so for all practical purposes, you have 2wd.. one front, one rear

3.is power distribution 50/50?

On yours, yes

4.can I shift on the fly?

Absolutely.. just push in the clutch and push the button

5.If I were feeling like having a rwd car:) , could I remove the front axles and plug the holes with axle-ends only, throw 'er in 4 wheel and go?

Yes

can I drive it like that for as long as I want? or are there complications?

Yes you can, can't imagin why you would want to..

...am I a moron?

Possibly.. only time will tell :D

you need only break the cv joint to have a reason to make it 3wd, remove the cage and balls, separate the axle stub from the shaft

it will NOT move in fwd with a front axle removed, but you can drive it in 3x with the axle stub MUST be installed

car doesn't go as good in rwd

miles fox did a write-up for roadside service, search for it, first post by me, "emergency roadside service"

there are two main reasons to drive in3x 1. no money to fix, 2. donuts

well on the front outputs there are stubs that the axles slide off of, so you don't need to plug the tranny ends off.
