Gas tank drain plug

Featured Replies

Just asking if anybody knows if there is a drain plug for the gas tank on a 97 Impreza. Have about a half tank of gas on a wreck I am pulling apart. I could not see a plug when I looked under the car. Could sure use the gas if I can get it out of there. thanks

I'm unaware of a plug. I use an air drill and drill a hole, catch with funnel with paint filter in it and a hose that I put in a container.

After all the tanks I've drilled I'll be a bit bummed if I missed a plug!

if you can still access the pump, hot wire it with 12v and take the fuel from the line into a can. If possible after the fuel filter then no rubbish is in the fuel.

i pumped the gas out of a wreck by powering the fuel pum. i didn't run it through the filer though. i did how ever use about 30 ft. of wire so iwouldn't be standing next to it , just in case.

or just open the access hole and siphon it in to a gas can on the ground

I have a 6 pin fuel pump connector with the fuel pump leads for this exact purpose. I didn't want sparks or to have to pull the pump or anything. 4 screws, connect to battery with alligator clips and run it straight thru the filter to a gas can.

Imprezas don't have a drain plug until 02.

I also just jumper the fuel pump wiring and pump it out.
