Legacy vf11 into ea82t?

Featured Replies

Has anyone swapped a newer legacy vf11 turbo into an ea82t? What supporting mods does this require?

Thanks!

ive done it about 4-6 times, all times it was a great idea, i had an intercooler (wrx or saab) to help, but otherwise, just make sure that you are not supplying more boost then the ea can handle, and you golder, BTW, it bolts in

no one in the know mods ea82Ts they are as unreliable as the New Dehli train schedule .

....and the people that say this dont pay attention to the obvious warnings- if you keep an ea cool, and dont overboost it, they are great, efficiant motors, is an ej22 better- yep- but some of us work with what we got. be nice to it and dont allow an over heat and youll be fine

i mean no disprespect, we all kmow the short comings of the ea82t, but i have had comprable success with a vf11, intercooler, and large radiator, it wasnt super fast, but it was fun, and reliable

The VF11 is a good turbo. People have also used the early WRX TD04's - they are more plentiful but require slightly more modification. Either is sized well for a turbo upgrade on the EA82T. The consensus is to keep the boost turned down as much as possible and do not under any circumstances exceed 10 psi or so. An intercooler and a turbo upgrade will increase performance even if you *don't* turn up the boost - and an intercooler is never a bad idea for reliability.

Keep it cool and stay within it's limits - that's the name of the game.

Sweet! So I don't have to change exhaust or anything eh? That's awesome! Also, yes, it will be intercooled with a wrx top mount, and I will run under 10 psi for sure. Thanks for all the advice and input!

So I have another question.... The 90° elbow that bolts to the turbo is missing on my vf11, does the ea turbo elbow bolt up to the vf11?
