March 5, 201313 yr Author well since the engine thats in the car is low on compression i pulled the complete engine that i got with the car out of the shed and took a look at it to see if its worth re ringing it so i can just swap motors instead of having the car down for a week parts 2 of the bores had some rust in them after cleaning this one turned out nice this one not so much and with the oil pan off so were gonna try honing it and if that bore doesnt clean up then ill pull and re ring the engine in the car

March 16, 201313 yr Author the subaru is showing signs that its low compression cannot be ignored any longer so ordering parts tomorrow and doing work!

March 23, 201313 yr Author well spent a half hour lazily pulling things apart im waiting for my dad to get home so i can borrow his picker and yank it so i figured i would pull some spoob off that im gonna have to pull off anyway tomorrow im gonna drain the oil out of it and unbolt the rest so that its ready to pull when he gets home friday
March 23, 201313 yr Author well i leaned something new about my engine the water pump is completly contained the cast pipe up top is what connects it to the cooling passages instead of having everything inside the block half casting found my exhaust leak all thats left now is oil pump exhaust bell housing and motor mounts some may say that im going slow with this but i cant do anything else till friday when i can get the cherry picker so im taking my sweet rump roast time to kill bordum

March 30, 201313 yr Author spent the day cleaning the crap out of the engine and bay tomorrow or sunday parts start flying
March 31, 201313 yr Author this is how we started today head off first peak in the bores bell housing/ timing cover off oil pan off wrist pins were giving us trouble tools for extraction video of the halves coming apart everything laid out on the bench this is what the bores looked like got the hone out bores afterwards painted some parts bores after a hone now question for you guys is this a ghetto white trash or other hot tank Edited March 31, 201313 yr by bonvo
March 31, 201312 yr Author hit a snag today here are the old bearings these are the new see whats wrong? one lock tab is in the wrong place the 5 other main bearings are perfect but 1 of the trust bearings has the lock tab in the wrong spot calling my parts supplier tomorrow about it cleaned up and painted the radiator and fan set up while this pistons soak in the dip Edited March 31, 201312 yr by bonvo
