September 29, 201114 yr Any tips on block heaters for this winter? I've looked at the ebay oil plug type and wondered what you guys think. Here, in Durango, it gets in the single digits regularly and drops below zero a few times during the winter. (summers are perfect, though ) My vehicles: 2004 Impreza Sport - mostly stock 1998 Legacy Outback - 2" lift 1987 GL Wagon (still EA82) - 4" lift / 27's All are running full synthetic oil.
September 29, 201114 yr I really love mine on the Forester! It can sub zero here in Iowa. The car starts faster without the struggle sounds, it runs smoother initially and the heater is much faster to warm up.
September 29, 201114 yr Does anybody know if there is a 220v version, I have never found one in europe.
September 29, 201114 yr They shold be available in Europe, as I have heard it gets cold up there too. I prefer the block type to the oil type. The block type heats up more surface area where the oil one basically does only the oil. The oil sits in a large pond in the bottom of the engine. Neither one is perfect, perfect is both.
