Parts Car-What to keep??

Featured Replies

Got a running with headgasket problem 90 legacy AWD 5 speed wagon and want to get it outa here ( the MRS. does really and there might a reward if I do:brow:) What do I strip off it to stockpile for my other legacy's??? Jeff

Stuff I would grab if I had room:

passenger side sun visor

motorized seatbelt system

knock sensor

wheel hubs ( to replace the damn bearings that fail all the time )

plug wires (sucks to pay close to 50 for a new set when they fail)

probably lots of other stuff too

from my limited perspective, the parts that you can sell easily, are probably the parts that you may need. they will be the ones that wear out. so you either sell them or save them. all the other parts are a long shot on both selling and needing, but there is always the odd broken part.

so pull the parts you think you will need, based on how much room you have and scrap the rest. it really isn't worth having the shell sit around.

if it were me, the engine , trans, any good interior pieces, hubs as mentioned, any ''recently'' replaced parts, tires, wheels, all sensors, maybe a few lights, would be keepers.

i would sell anything i had no room for, and anything on the shell that others might want.

the rest is scrap, $9 per 100 around here, last time i checked.

In addition

Altenator

Axles if in good shape

Radiator (flush it before storing it)

Driveshaft if awd.

In addition to what everyone else has said, I would save:

* spare tire

* jack and any factory tools

* rear cargo cover

* all the relays & fuses

* battery

* starter

* owners manuals

* speaker grilles from the doors

... etc.

Lets really shorten the list.Dont keep anything that is sheet metal or the carpet.
