Urgent Axle Help!!!!

Featured Replies

I'm working on a XT6, 4wd. Was working on replacing the ball joint on the passenger side.

Trying to lift the hub back up into position and the axle gave loose from the trans...

Is this right, what needs to be done next??

I'm no expert but I just put some axles in my XT6. Is the pin still in the end of the axle or did it fall out some how. Look there first and if the pin is still in there then the axle may have broke. If the pin fell out then get a new roll pin and it should go right back together.

Oh that ain't good at all. I have some bad news for ya.

On the other end of that stub axle there should be a snap ring that holes the stub axle to the side gear of the front diff. Somehow the ring slipped off or broke. At this point i see your options as, opening the transmission up check for other damage, replace the span ring and put back together. Or you could just replace the transmission.

Yeah that pic is alot more clear. That doesn't look good unless all that happened is the broken snap ring.
