trunk

Featured Replies

when I pull on my trunk button nothing happens. I can still open it with my key atleast. I can see the wire right on the latch but no idea how to tighten it or hook it up proper to make the latch work. any suggestions?? It's a 2000 legacy GT.

if it is a sedan,

usually there is a ''trunk release cancel'' switch / lever on the inside of the trunk latch mechanism. look for it. this will allow or not allow the trunk release lever, by the gas door opener, to open the trunk or not.

well I tried that and no luck. when I pull the lever there is no resistance. something needs tightened it appears???

I can't imagine replacing that cable to be fun. Be glad, my 05 STi doesn't even get a remote trunk release.

No it's not. I added one to my last impreza, as it was a brighton and didn't come with one. I had to take the drivers side door sill cover off, the drives seat out, the rear seat out, and flop the carpet to one side. The trunk I just had to move some of the covers out of the way back there. It was doable, just kind of time consuming.

if you are lucky, the cable is intact, but maybe one of the hoop ends came off the hook it pulls.
