January 4, 201214 yr i have a 87 EA82 OCH with FI 4wd(3.900)....i've been rebuilding gasket kits. *Headgasket...i did 3 step torque from Hayne book. from the beck gasket. *Timing belt...i did follow the internet *new; spark, battery, lasher, rocker-arm, manifold gasket. *wire, rotor, cup and alternator is new from couple years ago. ~~~coil, distributor, starter motor and valve is older but should be fine? check out my recently video if you know what sound is? so,tell me whats wrong? i did put jumper cable, check the sparking. seem gas into??
January 4, 201214 yr Sounds like the valve timing is off. Double check your timing belt alignment. GD
January 4, 201214 yr Author need a really perfectly alignment from inner and outer timing belt? Sounds like the valve timing is off. Double check your timing belt alignment. GD
January 4, 201214 yr Yeah - has to be pretty perfect. Even a single tooth off will run poorly. More than three teeth off and it won't likely run at all. GD
January 4, 201214 yr rewatch that video. double check make sure you rotate engine 360* between belts. skip to about 6:00 of the video to be sure when you say that the lasher and rocker is new, do you mean the valve lash adjuster? if so they should have been soaked and pumped up. Try cranking on it some more maybe they will pump up. Edited January 4, 201214 yr by Ricearu
January 4, 201214 yr Author yes, i did 360* for inner belt and i did other 360* for outter belt. i think i need to make be perfectly on the alignment on the sprocket. i did put pump into the lasher adjuster before install...it's very soft than old harder.. rewatch that video. double check make sure you rotate engine 360* between belts. skip to about 6:00 of the video to be sure when you say that the lasher and rocker is new, do you mean the valve lash adjuster? if so they should have been soaked and pumped up. January 4, 201214 yr will it start at all? i'm not clicking the video. they can run terrible when you first start them as the system primes and HLA's bleed/fill up. they'll be noisy too and sound awful, some folks think the motors are hosed...run them for 10 miles and they smooth out. the beck arnley gaskets require retorquing the heads as specififed in the FSM.
