I recall someone a while back saying they had an oil filter adapter on their subie that allowed them to remotely place a larger oil filter? like a ford or GM style one? Does anyone have a part # on that? I dont care what brand, I can cross reference that.

 

The story goes I am rebuilding an ea82T for my 84 GL, but I want to have an oil to air cooler, along with a remote oil filter setup. Can anyone help?

 

(I tried doing a couple searches and couldent find anything helpfull btw)

The adaptor in 3/4 x 16 thread - NAPA filter #4730 should do it. Then you will need a #4762 remote mount base (same threads) and some oil hoses fabbed up (1/2" NPT male ends). Last, you need to figure out a larger filter with the proper bypass valve setting and micron rating in the same thread - lots of choices in 3/4 x 16.

All the aftermarket oil filters I have seen are about twice as big as the Subaru brand filters anyway.... so what's the point?

 

EA81T's had oil coolers.... you might look into that.
