maf is very clean but i may try another one i got, i forgot to mention that my fuel pump is wired to a toggle switch, which i couldn't imagine is to good but i couldn't get power to the pump i tryed looking for loose wires and replaced the relay but nothing but it was going ok with the switch until this started happening. do ecu's short out that often on these cars?

No, not normally.

But it sounds like you have so many "mods" done to this car that its going to be extremely difficult to track down your problem.

You've already gone thru the basic OEM stuff, maybe you should start looking at things you have changed (fuel pump circuitry for instance).
