April 15, 201213 yr bought a 95 awd a/t wagon with a bad wheel bearing , got alittle hot driving home what damage could have happaned ?melted booth on rear axle how hard is it to replace rear wheel bearing , or buy a used hub with good wheel beaing already in it Edited April 15, 201213 yr by 86subaru
April 15, 201213 yr Get a used hub with a good bearing. What side do you need? Make sure you get the PB Blaster out and start letting it soak. The long bottom bolt can be bad if it rusted to the arm bushings.
April 15, 201213 yr doesn't it matter if it's rear disc or drum brakes - swapping hubs you'll want to keep it the same right? i saw your parts thread.
April 15, 201213 yr wow - melted boot lost brakes, almost caught on fire - that's intense! i would definitely be scrapping that entire assembly and just starting over with another unit like you're doing and he said, good call.
April 15, 201213 yr If it got hot enough to fade the brakes, good chance you also warped the rotors and glazed the pads. I'd be replacing those and bleeding the burned brake fluid out. There's about a 99% chance that bottom bolt is rusted and won't want to come out. Get your sawzall ready.
April 15, 201213 yr I have everything you need. Shoot me an email if you want a complete rear brake set. Lmdew2@gmail.com
