March 27, 200422 yr If I replaced the cams on my n/a carbed car with cams from a turbo engine, would it affect my car's performance? How?
March 27, 200422 yr The last time I looked an EA82 FSM it showed that the carb engine and the turbo engine use the same cam.
March 27, 200422 yr IF it were a turbo specific cam it SHOULD be ground for less overlap than a NA cam, it would adversly affect your performance.
March 27, 200422 yr i have fount the turbo cam on a carb motor/spfi block was best with open headers, low end grunt such as pulling a 7,000 lb capacity 2 axle trailer with a dead soob. 4th gear 2500 rpm all the way
March 27, 200422 yr Here's a pic from a 86 FSM showing the CAM timing for the different EA82 cams. At some point I must have deleted the other pic I had showing How to ID the different CAMs and the lobe dimentsions. I do remember though that the Turbo and Carb cams have the same ID markings
March 29, 200422 yr the timing is different but also the lift and overlap is less. I think you would have rather crappy performance with turbo cams in a non turbo motor.
