June 16, 201213 yr I put a set of remanufactured front cv axles on my 91 Loyale 5spd 4wd wagon and now it has a definite shudder like something is loose... but only while accelerating. The box the axles came in said: replaces Cardone ### ; I got them online dirt cheap so that may be the problem? I replaced the front tie rod end's also and "Rusty" doesn't pull to the left nor the right and steer's fine. It never had this shudder thing going on until I put those axle's on. Only does it when you put your foot in it and apply some torque to the front wheels. It coast's fine and I can't feel any vibration anywhere except for the shudder in the front axle area. Characteristic of a bad u-joint in a rear wheel drive car. That's what it remind's me of anyhow. Think I got what I paid for? Or did I overlook the obvious somewhere? Cast your input here. Thanks.
June 16, 201213 yr re-check the torque on the center hub nut..I think 135-140...if not tight enough, there will be some movement thus possible shudder...
June 17, 201213 yr I put a set of remanufactured front cv axles on my 91 Loyale 5spd 4wd wagon and now it has a definite shudder make sure it's not something else but i've seen this countless times - it's probably the new axle. it's not because you got them online or they were cheap - aftermarket axles (all of them) are a gamble. my time is too valuable and so i don't waste it on them any more. reboot Subaru axles or deal with MWE in Denver.

August 19, 201213 yr Author Update: Apparently it was just a bad hub I'd installed on the right front. At the time I put on the new axles I noticed I needed a new cone washer so I grabbed one from pick n pull along with a right front hub. (I had put that particular hub on with the new axle's.) This weekend I changed out the suspect hub with the hub that was previously on it and the shudder has gone away. I should have done that a couple month's ago.
