I was driving along and I went to open my glove box.

It slams open and busts the two cheesy plastic stoper pegs on each side completely.

Now I have a self emptying glove box. I't surprised me at how porely this particular part of the car is made.

 

Guess I need a new one and I also conclude that this is a dealer only purchase?

 

Are there any fixes other than replacement?

Don't know about alternatives for repair, but might consider the junk yard.

They are not heavy duty, but most cars today are made like this.

good time to change the cabin air filter.

 

I think your best bet is to find a replacement glove box door at a wrecking yard. It may be difficult to find the exact replacement color.
