June 27, 201213 yr Hey there, getting to be a regular poster... sigh. Iv'e got a 97 legacy 2.2 AT and it quit while driving for the wife the other day. Went to check it out and found that it did not have spark. (checked right at the coil pack with a screwdriver) I also tried to measure voltage at the crank sensor (i was guessing that it should have a 5v signal powering it and was not able to get a voltage) so... i had it towed to the local mechanic who has just called up after letting it sit for two days and said it runs fine and is showing no codes. This same thing happened this spring and I replaced the crank and cam position sensors. So I am guessing they are fine. Any ideas? -Karl
June 28, 201213 yr Sounds like a bad coil pack. Double check engine grounds too. If it was a sensor youd have a code. Usually if they fail you lose 2 cylinders but the ground circuit inside coild fail so id try putting a good coil on it.
June 28, 201213 yr This can drive you nuts. The crank position sensor makes a low AC signal. I would suspect this first if you can't get a heartbeat while turning the engine.
June 28, 201213 yr I'm having this exact problem with my xt6 I don't know how many times I can be spoken to as if I'm some stupid kid who doesn't know how to start his car..... --->Just found out that it's a problem with an ignitor in my distributor. Edited June 28, 201213 yr by natext6
