check engine light went off

Featured Replies

on my 1990 loyale, the check engine light was on with code 33 for coolant temp sensor.. well i let the car set for a week, i started it and drove it down the road today and the check engine light went off halfway down the road and hasn't come back on since and hasn't been cutting out like it was... weird? I'm still going to replace the sensor but why would it go off? i haven't disconnected battery or cleared the code.

many codes will clear after several drivecycles if they do not reoccur.

I've had a weak battery cause spurious codes on the wife's OBW, and recently i had a scare with my WRX but the codes never repeated.

Also, on older vehicles, you could have dicey/intermittent grounds/cables,connectors that might create a false code.

haha, my CEL for my EGR went off on the 4th of july while coming back from the fireworks. I took a picture.

it's back on now though
