Denso Spark Plug Question

Featured Replies

I recently got a tune-up at my mechanic. He replaced the stock Champion plugs (30,000 + miles) with Denso plugs. The car is running great but I can't seem to find any information on plugs he used at the Denso site. They are Denso PK20PR11 and have a stock number of 3168. My mechanic did mention that they are "platinum" and I should get about 40,000 miles out of them. Anyone have a clue ?

NP's and NGK's are the two Japanese OEM plugs. Either one will work well in a Sube. Have never met a Japanese engine that liked Champion plugs though.

I heard the Denso Iridiums are good but the tip breaks. They said its too thin, and that I should go with the NGK Iridiums. I guess they have a thicker tip. Anybody knows anything else on this?

I'm not crazy about platinum plugs of any kind, but at least they're a Japanese brand...

Here is a rule to follow with spark plugs: Use plugs made in the country your car was made in. If it's Japanese, use NGK, NipponDenso, etc. If it's German, use Bosch or sumthin. If it's American, use Champion, Delco, whatever. Each car will be happiest with a plug of the same origin.
