April 7, 200421 yr I have had a brake fluid puddle building up just behind and inside the front driver tire. Do any of you guys have a trick to track its' source. I have lit it and crawled around under but the fluid is so clear I am having a rough time seeing the source. Also, I have a master cylinder from a 2wd E81, (this one is four), do you happen to know if it is compatible? Thanks in advance, Greg
April 7, 200421 yr hey im no mech. but if its just behind the wheel then its probably the line to the master cyl. i would guess (just my 2cents)
April 7, 200421 yr If its a manual it could also be the hill holder clutch, mine is leaking a bit there.
April 7, 200421 yr I would lay under the car while somebody steps on the brakes and see if you can see any fluid visibly coming from somewhere. A trick that I heard for finding oil leaks is to clean everything off really well, then sprinkle flour or baby powder all over in the area of potential leakage. Step on the brakes a few times, and it should quickly become apparent where the fluid is coming from. Also, I can see no reason why the MC's would be different. If it fits, it should be fine.
April 7, 200421 yr Author Thanks. Like the the powder idea... and she'll smell baby fresh too. Also I hadn't tried the pump the break while I watch method. Obvious... now. Greg
