November 25, 201213 yr Anyone interested in some parts off a 98 outback wagon? My cousin wrecked the 98 I sold to my uncle. I think that A/C compressor will fit on my 02 forester. Would the seats transfer?
November 25, 201213 yr Front seats, suspension parts, wheels, brakes maybe. Alternator can be used if you swap the plug. AC compressor maybe. Other than that I'm not too sure.
November 25, 201213 yr The lines from the compressor will not fit the 02 unless you use the condenser also. Ask me how I know.
November 25, 201213 yr Some of the electronics goodies like cam and crank position sensors I think are the same, maybe the ignitor and coil is the same. Engine and transmission of course are a no go at least not without the wiring harness and ECU and TCU. Steering pump is different.
November 25, 201213 yr Author Thanks guys, I plan to swap out the wheels, rotors, and now the seats! I'll look at the suspension and take the coil, MAF. I wish the compressor worked. I guess switching the condenser is more work than just getting the right compressor? Mike
November 25, 201213 yr Yes switching the condensor would be a lot of work most likely because it wouldn't necessarily bolt up the same way as the old. Are you sure it is your compressor that is bad on the '02? If the system pressure is low, i.e. a leak somewhere, it will not turn the compressor on. Forget the MAF, your '02 does not have a MAF, it is MAP speed density based.
November 26, 201213 yr Author The compressor makes a whine and adding R34 didn't make it work. It barely puts on the cold.
