Oil pressure light?

Featured Replies

Changed oil in my new Subaru Outback. Low oil pressure light came on. Checked dipstick. Left car in shop. Spoke with tech at dealership. He asked: "Did you leave the key in the ignition when you drained the oil?" MY reply: YES!

He said: "Bring it in and I will erase the code. It's ok to drive". I asked: "Why can't I find that info in my owner's manual?" He said: "Subaru doesn't want you to know everything". I have taught my wife to "pull over and shut it off", read the manual, call me IF any warning lights come on. Oh, for the latest in technology. Isn't it just GRAND??

Just me again. Rather than drive the 70 plus miles to erase the code, I did the old "take battery cable off" trick AND so far, so good. She will drive it today to the gym and let me know. THX and have a safe, healthy and happy new year.

I would ************ my pants if the oil pressure light stayed on after I changed the oil in my car.

Will have to keep this in mind if I ever work on a new Outback.

Thx to the poster right before me. Subaru today told me the yellow means low level: the red one means low pressure. THX for the info. ANother tech told me after a couple "drive" cycles, the yellow icon will go "off".
