Ok, heres the problem:

We were doing a head gasket job on a 99 legacy with the phase 2 style 2.2 engine. One of my mechanics grabbed the headgaskets for a phase 2 2.5 sohc and installed them. I didnt realize it had happened until after the engine was installed.

I compared the correct gasket to the one we used and the bore on the 2.2 is less than 1/8 different.

My question is," do you think it will function OK?"

They use them on franken-motors, ej25 blocks with ej22 heads.

itt will work but will have a dead space around the barrel i dont think it will last as long but should work fine
