April 20, 200421 yr Hey EA82T Folks, I'd like to get an EA82T specific survey going about what emissions do-dads you've given the heave-ho and which seem crucial. For my purposes, I live in a part of the country where there are no emissions tests so I can get away with murder. But I do want it to run well. Thus far, I have: By-passed the EGR system (spider intake required), Ditched the evap system, Aux-air who needs it? How about you....
April 20, 200421 yr are we talking about a factory ea82t? if so i would love to know what i couls take off. it seems like if i even unplug 1 darn thing, it will not run.
April 20, 200421 yr Author Yes Factory, well sort of.... I've done some mods (check my sig), it's in the brat but as of yet I don't have everything hooked up so I haven't been able to test anything... The EGR delete was the suggestion of the board when I switched to a spider intake which has no provisions for EGR. I removed everythin and pluged the hol ein the cylinder. The evap is not crucial as far as I know and it's removal really clean the engine bay of loads of hose. The aux air is said to reduce emissions during cold weather start up by leaning the mix, but shouldn't affect the run quality. What have you tried that didn't work? garner
April 21, 200421 yr The only thing I have done is remove part of the EGR system.. The car the motor was originally in had no EGR..(no spider either).. all the top end stuff is there for the inspectors to see, but the pipe from the manifold to the head is chopped.. reason for all this is that there is no hole in the head for an EGR pipe.. and I am not about to drill a hole in my head:-\
April 21, 200421 yr Who needs to worry about emmisions when you can papers and inspection for 60 dollars, of course i wouldnt do it to a smoke train or an obvious car that i know for sure that wont pass, but here in texas if you have a good inspection sticker, that could mean an extra 500 dollars on the sale price.
April 21, 200421 yr well, ea82 and 82t are the same thing, so... deffinately the canister and the egr. other than that, the system is pretty stripped, compared to the carb models.
