July 16, 201312 yr well i finally just picked up a GL for 500 bones. been looking for a while now. this is my 5th subaru, but everything i have owned has been EJ... 1987 GL wagon. original owner. 303k miles. all service records. thule roof rack. runs like a top. he replaced the original clutch at 250k miles. for whatever reason he forgot to put it in gear one day at his usual parking spot. it rolled into a tree. all cosmetic. anyone have some spare parts to fix it? plans. are CB radio, 2" lift, and i already have a set of 225/70/15 general grabbers sitting in garage... just need to convert it to six lug... July 16, 201312 yr Hey Greenlake. Doesn't look like that bumper will just buff out will it? lol Jeff (one eye) can definitely hook you up with a lift and the knowledge you'll need. Scott in Bellingham sells kits too.

Scott in Bellingham sells kits too. living up in northgate now. right down the road from josh actually. trying to decide if i want to go with a bigger lift. maybe 4"... also seriously thinking about just going straight to a ej swap. i am not a fan of this carburetor at all. it has some hesitation
July 16, 201312 yr Author drove it to the junk yard today. couple issues i have noticed so far. when it is first started, doesn't matter if it is cold or warm, it bucks and hesitates when i accelerate. also the shifter has about 5 inches of play when in gear.
July 17, 201312 yr Author Wish you would have sent that a few hours earlier! Got one from the junk yard today...
July 17, 201312 yr Author fixed her up fine today. went to the junk yard and got some parts... and these are the tires that are waiting. still not sure what to do about lift. i dont want to bash and cut her up like crazy just to fit these... Edited July 17, 201312 yr by subiwag
July 17, 201312 yr HighGuysLifts.com And as far as the carb....it probably just needs a cleanout/rebuild. These are pretty easy carbs to open and cleanout. It's ussually the slow emulsions and the primary main emulsions clogged.....which causes the poor transition from light to full throttle. Just redid a carb on a Brat the other day.......now drives flawless. I charge $90 bucks for this service....the carb kit only cost about $25 Edited July 17, 201312 yr by Gloyale

If you you went two inches and found a set of peugeot wheels you wouldn't need to do a lot or if you converted to six lug and found some close to stock offset wheels you would be good. Wheels with tons of negative offset will need more trimming but stock style wheel with positive wont. Like Zap said, if you made your way North Jeff could hook you up for cheap and we could help you install it.

Like Zap said, if you made your way North Jeff could hook you up for cheap and we could help you install it. yea i am thinking 2 inch for now just to keep it cheap and simple. seems like most pugs are 14" though... i will have to look into what 6 lug wheels would work the best for not poking out like crazy. thanks for all the help guys!
July 20, 201312 yr The dodge d50/mitsubishi mighty max pickup wheels fit perfect. They also have a thick center section to the wheel which lends itself well to redrilling for 4 lug. Here's a side view showing how well they tuck with 235/75r15's on mine: And here's what the wheels look like. You may also find them on 80's Raider's and Montero's.
July 20, 201312 yr Napa up here still charges 45 to 50!! per kit...... Autozone is $28 My supplier (IMC) they are only about $18. Both are "Walker" brand kits. Annoyingly, they do not include a new power valve. They do have everything else needed.
July 20, 201312 yr get some steelies off a 91 mitsubishi montero, trapezoid holes. mine are perfect for a 2". stock offset, too narrow now that the 4" is on there though
July 20, 201312 yr Author doesnt seem like much is on craigslist that would work well for redrilling to 4 lug
July 21, 201312 yr Author for anyone curious this is whats sitting in my garage waiting to be finished... i have a pact it will make to wcss this year! Edited July 21, 201312 yr by subiwag
