April 21, 200421 yr I was just looking at another post with the various spring and strut ratios and was wondering if anyone is running their wagons with rx struts for that extra firmness. Is there any difference in strut length? It should handle nicer in corners. Are rx struts still available new, or are they harder to come by? Any other vehicles that would be running the same thing? Here is the chart: Hope this helps
April 21, 200421 yr i know scrapdaddy put 3dr RX suspension and drivetrain under his wagon.. only issue i know of is that even with the engine in the car, it still sits higher in the front than the back.. otherwise nice and stiff..
April 21, 200421 yr RX struts and springs will sit you up a tad more...and yes, it is a firm'er ride. There are a few people running RX suspensions. I for one...have a RX+ suspension on my GL-10 wagon...meaning RX struts, and 400 lb springs. What a cornering experience! I do have a bone stock RX, and it is a major difference in ride quality vs a stock Non-RX. The suspension responds better, its firm'er and more apt to hold the road under any conditions. Its just plain better.
April 21, 200421 yr and also, as an FYI.... RX springs do fit on EA81 struts and it will lift the body up almost 1.25" when you do it
April 21, 200421 yr it's really nice. I have RX springs on GL struts in the front of my wagon, and new KYB RX struts in the back. that and XT6 sway bars... hooo boy!
April 22, 200421 yr Are you sure that rx struts will lift an ea82 wagon? This doesnt seem to make sense to me, considering that the wagon is heavier, and even though the rx springs are stiffer, rxs are lower to the ground, with the same chassis.
April 22, 200421 yr Author So as long as the strut lengths are just about the same, there shouldn't be a problem running them with gl springs just for that little bit of better ride.
