Found a nice outback spotThe seller says it is a 2.2 1995.i am thinking the sport only had 2.5 and came out in 96 or 97. Any help? Thanks

No - it's an EJ22.

Outback Sport is an impreza.

Outback Sport didn't get the EJ25 until 2002.

No impreza came with an EJ25 before 1998.

That is what i thought. 193.000 mi on it so year is wrong and telling me wrong size motor.s must be 98 or newer with junk 2.5

The seller says it is a 2.2 1995 - This is correct!  The 95 2.2 is a great engine, non interference so if the t-belt or idler pulley goes no valve damage.  Dual Port Exhaust.

The body style is outback sport like 9 8.he must have years mixed up and motor is correct size then?

what do you mean "the body style is 98"?

 

if you mean it has a hood scoop then maybe a 97+ hood was installed on an earlier model.

or maybe it's a later model.

 

you might want to ask specific questions - like why does it matter to you whether it's a 95 or 98?  it's rather immaterial on nearly all grounds for such an old vehicle - they are all Impreza wagons with a few trim and other minor changes. at this point i don't see the value in speculating about an "incorrect year".

Some early years got EJ18's - like 1995 manual transmissions...check cars101.com for more info on those.

A'm biulding a offroad outback sport right now gets the whole outback lift / struts cutt the rear body off flush with floor added twinn E brake levers skid plates and now have a killer offroad sport sitts realy high. Is a realy fun car and yes the outback sport came with 2.2 witch is a realy good thing !

Only the 2.5 RS had 2.5

 

A regular Impreza Sport from 95-2001 will have a 2.2
