How do you get an early 90s legacy torque converter to seat the last 1/2 inch. Frustrated.

You need to spin it slowly until it meshes up with the pump.

If you cant get it, pull it out a ways and reposition it and try again.

Check stator fixed shaft for cracks on end of it if cracked torque will not go on all the way

Read up. I posted some pics of what it should look like. It's not very difficult. Just make sure you do it right so nothing gets crushed.

Supporting the weight of it so it's not cocked in the bore (even just a bIt) helps.

 

Some have resorted to tipping the trans up vertical, but thaT'S NOT NECESSARY (oops).
