North Texas Northwest OHV Park in Bridgeport

Featured Replies

No, but I have been looking into new places to go...

All the spots my family has been going to have been developed, or are being developed.

I think you can still get into the ones in The Colony, but it is what it is.

These "parks" take a lot of the fun out of what we called off-roading when I was a kid.

I'll let you know the next time we go out there. I would love to wheel with an old school Subi.

There used to be some trails in Arlington but they've made it illegal to off road there.

Those parks are the ONLY thing keeping offroading alive!

Please don't go into what you did as a kid. It was most likely illegal to be where you were, and it gives bad press for the liberals to use.

I grew up in Texas, and did a lot of offroading myself there. But we had public land to do it on.

cheers

I understand, and completely agree. It sucks living in the city sometimes.

There was a public place in Ferris we used to go when everyone was rolling Sammys.

I haven't seen trails in over year... I'm itching to get out again. Neither Brat is off-road ready, yet.

And no license  :P

Went on a level 3 trail with the Fozzie today. It did OK I guess, wish I had more ground clearance.

I'll post some more videos and a couple of pics later tonight.

Some muddy trails and a water crossing at the end.

I never thought I would see the day when a subaru did poorly offroad. That newer forester need some better tires than the slicks it came with, the jeep and your subaru by comparison had no issues what so ever.

The blue Forester was on Cooper AT3s. We got a lot of rain the day before, the rocks were a slick mess! The camera vehicle is a Dakota.

I was in the Forester, I just took some poor lines. Driver error.

noted:the dakota and the jeep did well.Get some different tires I have more aggressive tread on my tow rig and it stays on pavement for 97% of its life.

How are the trails rated out there? For instance what is a level 2 vs a level 3?

  • Author

Level 2 involves mostly smooth hill climbs and rutted out trails, the last video was all level 1 and 2.

Level 3 has sharp rocks and boulders, moving rocks that slide out from underneath, and rocky hill climbs. In the level 3 video I stopped right after going up the hill in the end because my rocker was resting on a large boulder. I had to back up and place another rock under my left rear tire in order to climb over that boulder.

Those rock crawlers were doing a level 4 climb that looks like a rock staircase.

We are going back out to the OHV park on March 8th if anyone is interested in joining our group that day.

I want to see some Level 4 action this time, even if you don't take the Forester on it.  Just want to see how it compares to what we have here.

I will send a brave soul down a level 4 and film it for you.

I would say upper 311 at EC would probally be  4.5 or 5 on that scale.

a level 2 down there I would no problems driving a 2wd car over it.

Here's a closer view of my attempt at a Level 3 climb. I did it in one try, the Liberty and Dakota took multiple attempts.

So far we have 15 vehicles going on our March trip, four of them Foresters. My Forester is the trail lead because I'm hosting the group. It'll be funny seeing a bunch of Jeeps and 4x4 trucks being led into a trail by a Subaru.

pics?

Sorry, I didn't take that many this time around. Since there were only three of us we were constantly on the move.
