SPRING BREAK WHEELING!

Featured Replies

March 22-30 i will be going wheeling somewhere, not exactly sure where yet. Thinking about moonrocks and funnyrocks in washington, but im not sure yet! Anybody have any suggestions? Anybody want to come with me?

You might want a dual range transmission first, if you don't already have one.Spinning bigger tires with a Ea71 offroad sounds like death for your clutch.

no time or money unfortunately :/ but the good new is im not going much bigger with tires. stock is 23, im going like 25-26, so it wont really be an issue

If I could get my stuff together before then I would love to go,But as it stands my brat isn't even a rolling chassis yet.Just setting the rear suspension under it.

I dunno im scared of going that way,I went up to evans creek and on the way back my hatch(in my sig) fell off my trailer and died an untimely death, then I drove up and borrowed a rig to go wheeling and got a speeding ticket. Then I went and got my brat and the transmission in my dodge ate itself on the way back home...

What he said. 26 inch tires don't seem so big, but you'll find that your clutch will really hate them with no dual range.

yeah haha i get that, its just simply out of the question! unless somebody wants to donate parts to me its not gonna happen for a couple years probably! for sure not before this trip in march :) it'll be fine, ive wheeled with worse!

must be a tater thing...

Moon rocks is fun but without a D/R you will just be driving up to look at them, even then you will need a few dry days otherwise there will be too much slop on the trails around there for an under powered single range car.

Well, im open to suggestions, do you have any ideas of trails that would suit me better?

That's a great place to go.  There are plenty of mild trails around there and the FS roads are a blast too. In March you might still have snow but it will definitely be cold.  If you are willing to travel that far I would go to someplace warmer since it is your spring break.

Alright, warmer as in where do you suggest? I have no idea where the good places to go are honestly

Hopefully someone who lives in a warmer place will chime in.

Honestly Manastash Ridge and the Naches area up to Rainier is one of my favorite places on Earth. If you don't mind the cold I could send you some coordinates to a couple good camping spots that have fun easy trails nearby. Just bring lots of firewood.

That would be great! Even if i dont go THIS spring break i want to know of lots of good places! :) thanks!

If you were abit more built there is always craters of the moon national park just south of you.Or Moab.

Thats a listing of trails in idaho. Most are ATV/UTV trails, but a subaru isn't much bigger than A UTV so it would probally fit but contact people who manage the trails before you go down one of them to see if there is a max width for the trail.
