January 19, 201412 yr Well I finally finished my front coilovers iv been working on. It was super easy to make them just took a ton of research an what parts would work. I used the stock strut tubes and took out the internals and cut 2 inches out of the tube and put 1st gen MR2 rear strut inserts in. Then for the springs I got a coilover kit for a Honda Del sol and they fit perfect. Then for the top hats I got some universal camber plate for a Datsun 510 off ebay and this is wat i ended up with.
January 20, 201412 yr Author I'll take some pics when i get my new tires put on. Right now its sitting in stands.
January 27, 201412 yr Author I got my wheels powder coated the other day and some new tires put on and this is how it sits with the coilovers on it.
February 2, 201412 yr This is great. I was willing to do this myself up until you said you had to cut 2" off the stock units. Is there any way to do something like this without cutting the factory parts? I don't mind dissembling them but actually cutting them is a problem.
February 4, 201412 yr Author to get the amount of drop I wanted I had to put different strut inserts that were shorter. But if you only wanted to lower it an inch or two there is no cutting involved. I went totally crazy today and slammed mine and had to C notch the frame but man it looks way cool and it rides decent.
February 4, 201412 yr Man I wish I had those measurements you mentioned. I'm going off "looks". As in this looks like it might fit. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VW-BEETLE-9C-ALL-COILOVERS-TUNINGART-COIL-OVER-COILOVER-KIT-/151215275362?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item233521fd62&vxp=mtr
February 5, 201412 yr Author this is the kit I ordered and they fit perfect. In the rear I just reclocked the torsion bars but it gives you crazy camber and I need fo find a way to fix it so I dont go through tires. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SCALE-COILOVER-0-3-SPRING-CRX-CR-X-DEL-SOL-CIVIC-EG-EK9-INTEGRA-DC1-DC2-DB-BLACK-/360568384306?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53f38ceb32&vxp=mtr
