February 13, 201412 yr There is a hole in the front-bottom of the air cleaner housing of my 85 GL. I'm guessing that it is a drain hole for moisture. There is a weird blue object placed in the hole (I'm guessing by the PO). Does anyone have a plug, of some sort blocking this hole?
February 13, 201412 yr I've never heard of an open hole in the intake system down stream of the air filter... I say plug it. you are just asking for dust and dirt to enter...path of least resistance... it was probably for a fastener or clip of some type...maybe a plastic retainer clip to hold a vacuum line neatly in place underneath the air cleaner housing to keep the engine bay tidy?
February 13, 201412 yr I'll look at mine today, but based on your pics, that hole is outside the air filter and poses no issue plugged or not.

February 13, 201412 yr I would imagine it is there as a drin. Oil sometimes collects in the air cleaner if the PCV system is in need of maintenance.
February 13, 201412 yr The original Air Filter Box on my '85 EA82 had that hole also; it is for drain purposes. Kind Regards.
February 15, 201412 yr Author Cool beans. I may just plug it up as I doubt that much water could find it's way in the box, but the oil dripping down the front after hard/long right-hand cornering causes a pain/mess.
