EA81 Window Adjustment.

Featured Replies

I am trying to adjust the window on the driver's side of my hatchback. After removing the interior panel, I found the two stops at the top of the door. I know these stop the window from going up too high. I need to adjust the pitch of the window so that it can get a better seal with the gasket when closed.

Can anyone help?

j.

Somehow it is an "Trial and Error" exercise...

The setup is pretty similar to the Third Gen Leone (EA82)

In my case, what I did was to close the door without the door's card and lift the glass 'till it was in the proper position; Then retighten the screws at the two stops, and try to open - close the door with the glass full up.

Repeat if necessary...

Kind Regards.

I don't remember there being any adjustment studs per se, but if there are, you will see one stud on each track poking through the door inside the panel. You would loosen the jamb nut and adjust the stud in or out to change the in/out angle of the top of the window. Since I don't think there are and if I'm understanding that you want to bring the top of the glass in tighter to the seal, you could space the bottom mounting points of the track farther outboard by installing washers in between the tracks and the door. This would tip the top of the glass in towards the seal.

You can adjust the track position like Skishop said.

There is also some "pads" attached to the top of the door sill.  These can be adjusted in or out to put pressure on the glass inward, and keep it from wobbling when it's half way up/down.

IIRC you have to take the trim lip of the door to get to them.

Thanks for the information, guys. This is very helpful!

I have not removed the trim lip for fear of breaking it. Is it held in place with clips?

I think there is a screw at each end under the rubber seal.  The rest is clips just pry straight up carefully.

Thanks for the help.  Gloyale and Skishop were dead on.

I was able to adjust the pitch and ~poof!~ no more wind noise or leaks.
