not sure if I described it correctly....the notched metal ring that the ABS sensor reads

 

Well...I was struggling to get the cv axle out and broke a pc of the ring off (2")

 

What will happen/ ABS cease functioning altogether?

How do I replace it

Year, make, model, front/rear?

Post a picture?

 

The ABS won't work but it'll drive just fine, it'll just disable without enough triggers present.

 

It's basically a wheel bearing job to repair it.

 

Personally I'd fabricate some fix to install the broken piece in place if you still have it.  Tack weld it or metal strip with small screws from behind (use something that won't rust).  It's not particularly load bearing though it is rotating fast, it just needs held in place relatively sturdy.

Go to the junkyard and cut one off carefully with a hacksaw. Put it back on your car carefully preserving the proper spacing between the two halves and fill the joint with JB weld (not sure if you need to do that or not).

 

It's a bit hack, but it's worked for me in the past. Worst case it doesn't work and you wasted a bit of time and maybe a few bucks.

if you junked it then agreed, i'd get a whole one from a junk yard or on here someone can send you one and bolt one on that's been cut off from another hub like he just said.  i wouldn't attach it with JB weld but i don't think that's what he means.

Bolt it on with the allen head bolts, I just fill in the gaps left my hacksawing the ring in half.

i probably even have one in my garage, i got hubs everywhere.

When cutting it in half cut it in the low spots. The sensor works on the proximity of the metal so it sees the high spots and can't see the low spots. Cutting in the low spots keeps you from having any issues in the signal. I've done this on 3 cars now and have never had an issue. 

 

Also, it's held on with 5 allen head bolts so you can't cut it in perfect halves. Don't worry.
