Front struts 86 GL

Featured Replies

Anyone know where I can get "quick struts" for this?  I should replace both fronts.  I dont want to disassemble what I have now.  Or does someone rebuild them, etc?

I don't belive that a "quick strut" is available for the subarus.  Your best bet is to rent a spring compressor, and compress the spring to remove it from the old strut and install on new strut.

Maybe you could remove the entire strut from the car and take them into a shop for replacement then reinstall the new struts back onto the car.

If you pull the struts yourself and take it to a small shop, they shouldn't charge you too much to swap cartridges into your struts. I think I paid $25 to have a pair done but that was seven years back.

Just did this a few weeks ago and it was fifty. Could have probably done a little better had I called around, but I needed it "now."

Yeah, to be be honest I think it was actually only $20 but it was a 'friend of the shop' hookup too.
