June 1, 201411 yr any ideas for a new exhaust set up for 1979 brat? easy and cheap is good. my y-pipe can be reused but the rest will need replaced. options or parts ideas to keep original or to do a whole new set up? thanks
June 1, 201411 yr +1 to spicy peanut's post. I took my '81 Brat to an independent exhaust shop many years back and the outcome was great. In my experience, avoid chain muffler shops -- you get way too little for your money and they have a hard time thinking outside the box. I had the whole exhaust redone, including a very small stock muffler tucked up under the rear. Good ground clearance, quiet and no more leaks. Edited June 2, 201411 yr by bendecker
June 2, 201411 yr Ask them if they can make a dual exhaust set up. People have done it. Search the archives. "Skip" definitely had a nice set up made. Pretty sure he went stainless too.

Mine has individual pipes coming off each head, that goes straight back into a single cat and out the back. Very clean setup. Much nicer than any stock system you will find in a junkyard or on a donor car.
