Hey guys I have a bad sending unit ie. Fuel gage miss read do I need to drop the tank to replace or could it be the gage its self this is my first legacy any tips are helpful thanks

you do not need to drop the tank - there should be an access cover just behind the rear seat under the carpet.

 

you might want to try running a bottle of techron fuel system cleaner thru a tank or two first tho

If the cleaner does not fix it, you can clean the resister with a light abrasive.  There are two units, one on the each side of the tank.
