Uberoo
Of the people that still make adapter plates, who makes the plates with the upper holes siamezed so a single offset bolt goes through the adapter plate to both engine and transmission?I'm looking to remake the steel plate I made along time ago.Tired of having to drill out the holes on the engine. So I'm looking for some of the offset bolts... Scooner
Just weld some together bro man, that's all they are.
Uberoo
I thought they were shaved down alittle then welded?
Scooner
When i did mine i just welded two bolts together and it worked great. Even if they were shaved, you could grind them a little then weld them, just test fit them suckers and you shouldn't have a problem.
Uberoo
yea,I was thinking of sliding the engine and transmission together, and putting some bolts through each one and welding them together where they meet. Then modify the steel adapter plate so they fit. Uberoo
Does anyone still make an aluminum adapter plate with the top holes milled out?I got to thinking how heavy my steel adapter plate is,and everything could always weigh a little less... Scott in Bellingham
I can mill out mine if that's what you want, I run smaller diameter studs into the top engine side so no need to drill out threads
Gloyale
Does anyone still make an aluminum adapter plate with the top holes milled out?I got to thinking how heavy my steel adapter plate is,and everything could always weigh a little less... 4 or 5 threads in steel is plenty.... in aluminium it's not enough. That's why the factory threads in the EJ block are nearly an inch deep. you don't want just a couple threads of aluminum holding your engine and trans toghether. If I were to run an aluminuim plate, it would be with siamesed bolts.....you're on the right track Uberoo. I would not trust on;y 1/2" of M8 threads. EJ bracket bolts to EA 5spd. I suppose with a 4spd maybe woudl be needed.
