How big/wide tires can I get on a Brat with a 4" lift w/o spacers?

Featured Replies

Just about to do a lift in a few weeks so I'm currently looking for tires! We're going to be doing the 6 lug conversion.. Can't wait!! Wondering what kinda tires I should be looking for.. I know they can be 6 holes for Toyota and Chevy's, just not sure on the width..

Can anyone guess that 235/70/15's would be too big? Wondering if these tires would rub in the wheel well?

I have a set of 15" turbine rims that will fit, just looking for rubber now...

NO! Not unless you want to cut the wheel wells and I mean fairly generously! I recently did a 4" lift on my 82' Brat and a 6 lug conversion with 15" rims and the biggest tire I could go with was a 205 / 70 / 15 = 26.4" in total height. Looks good and still a decent amount of clearance!

My 4" lifted brat is currently sporting 235/75R15 size tires.

The bottom of my front fenders are trimmed to a sharp point, (the bottom of which meet the leading edge of my front doors.)

Wheel liners are off and in the garbage where they belong.

I had to beat the unibody wheelwells back so far that it was necessary to unbolt and reposition my doors.

Can be done, but youre gonna want the BIG hammer.

27x8.50x14 fit OK with wheel with a big offset.  Only a tiny bit of rubbing on the fronts by the door.  A closer to stock offset would keep the rubbing down.

Looking great guys, thanks for the info!!!

I'll try for the 205 / 70 / 15's and go from there.. Here are the the rims I picked up!!! Tires are 235/70/15's so I should find something smaller till I feel ready to start cutting!
