Trunk switch on sedans?

Featured Replies

I have an 87 gl sedan.  I love the car.  My real issue, and I'm not sure why its an issue to me, is that this stupid thing doesn't have a switch or anything to pop the rear deck lid.  Was there ever a factory option for one?  Has anybody rigged one up? Or am I destined to either fab one up or live with having to shut the car off and get out every time I want to pop my trunk?  Pic of my car, cause pics are always better.

what do you use to pop th fuel filler door ?

I have sorry, had, cable release from that lever, pull up for boot release, push down for fuel filler door 2x 85 GLTA's and Vortex same...

Sedans have a two way lever next to the driver seat. On my loyale sedan I think i push down to open the trunk and pull to open the fuel door.

In my GL it's pull to open trunk push to open fuel door. Same in the Loyale

All the answers seem to be what I expected.  I thought pulling up on the lever was the trunk but my truck doesn't open.  Thank for confirming what I thought.  Just got to hunt down the issue with the switch now.

it is a cable set up and clever the way it works, as it passes by the fuel filler door release on its way the trunk latch. My fuel fill door stopped responding years ago, so it was always an inside the trunk trim to plick it with my finger

I bet you have accidentally enabled the "trunk cancel" latch inside the trunk.  Open the trunk with the key and look at where the latch catch is located. You will see a label. The latch must be OFF to disable the handy dandy "trunk canceller". Not sure why they put it in there, but it has caught me a few times. I even started taking off interior panels thinking it was a bound cable or something. Here isa pic from my other sedan, Ash:

In the pic above, the feature is enabled meaning the front trunk release lever will not operate unless I turn the "trunk canceller" off.

Mr-Loyale beat me to the comment......but yeah......I thought last night about this thread and realized he may have the override activated......

Some models it very obscured by the panels.....you really gotta look for the little lever.

You guys are awesome!!!! I just saw this a bit ago and ran out and the cam was switched into the overide position.  Trunk opens beautifully with the lever now.
