Hi All!

 

Just a quick question. I have an 85 Wagon that has a 2" lift kit, but otherwise unmodified. Ever since I bought it, when I hit 5th gear the 4WD button rattles. The stick itself doesn't rattle, as I can put my hand on the shifter and it still rattles. As soon as I put my nail on one side of the button, the rattle stops.

 

Any ideas how to stop it? I drive 40Km each way to work every day in 5th, and the noise is driving me nuts!

just remove the knob, and remove the 4x switch, then put the knob back on

We have a 93 Loyale at work with the same problem. No fix I can think of other than wedging something in beside the button so it won't rattle.

I think there's a very small phillips or hex screw in the front of the knob; you might investigate tightening that.

You could carefully spill some pepsi onto your shifter, I bet that would work
